Dear Family and Friends of MM Foundation,
We are back from a hectic, yet exciting Nigerian trip where we officially dedicated medical equipment for the Mmaraihe Memorial Cottage Hospital and Orphanage, as well as initiated the seeing of patients at the same hospital. We also dedicated other farm equipment for CHICHI FARMS built for the widows and orphans in Umuanya. The acquired land for the construction of an Institution of Higher Learning (that is a University) was also dedicated. It was as usual a memorable and epoch-making event, as noted by the head of the community, Eze SUN Asumugha, The Anya I of Umuanya. The Eze and the people of his community had a huge coronation ceremony of honoring my husband and I for what the Lord has used us to do for the community. The Eze again at the ceremonious occasion stated as in the last one in the April opening: “this is the first of its kind in this needy village, the first of its kind in Umuahia, in fact, the first of its kind in Abia State, that a woman has single-handedly with the support of her husband, come back to her birth home to construct and render a deed of kindness of such great magnitude.”
It was with great humility, joy, honor, and pride that we accepted and enjoyed such honor and accolade at this awesome coronation ceremony, as the entire honor goes to The One Above, without whom my husband and I would not have been able to accomplish and achieve this for the community. My husband was named “Ogo Di Oha Nma I of Umuanya” and I “Ada Di Oha Nma I of Umuanya,” meaning, our honored and appreciated son-in-law and our honored and appreciated daughter.
It is obvious that God’s hand is in the whole affair, as everyone who spoke at the event again, talked about the hospital/orphanage as a “miracle center” where people will not just be healed physically, but spiritually as well. As usual with many of our activities pertaining to the MM Foundation, we had a health fair, this time from the hospital, with everything in place, which was overwhelmingly attended, as it depicts the dire need of the community for such a health institution. There was plenty to eat and drink, many cultural activities, including masterful traditional dances and songs by the Umuanya Women.
The institution is now declared officially opened with the seeing of patient. Dr Uche Madudionu, the God-sent resident physician and his eager and committed staff will continue to work tirelessly to furnish, equip, and serve the community and humankind at large via the hospital and orphanage. I would have shared the breathtaking testimony of Dr Madudionu’s selfless sacrifice and miraculous injection into this project. Though the institution may be in the interiors of a primitive village, I still have a dream of it being a teaching institution hospital someday in the near future. Based upon this dream, I now invite all of the family, friends, and supporters of MM Foundation to pledge your continued support by way of donation; including medical equipment, supplies, medications, or finances needed to continue furnishing and running the institution. Ultimately, your prayers as usual and customary count the most.
